Westgate - Lancaster City Council - David Smith (Labour) resigned to return to his native Yorkshire. A Cabinet member, he was a councillor since 2011 and before that, worked for the Council during 32 years as a road sweeper, health and safety adviser and union representive. His union responsibilities led him to be the Chair of the Public Services Committee of the national Transport and General Workers' Union. He was also the Labour candidate in Morecambe and Lunesdale at the 1987 election.
