It looks like 31 by-elections during October, 9 of which are in Scotland, along with a further "double"election in Scotland at the beginning of November. In addition there are another 8 known vacancies, 5 in England, 2 in Wales and 1 in Scotland.
Currently 25 of the total 108 seats already contested and current vacancies since the general election are as a result of the sitting councillor resigning as they are now MPs.
