Corbyn Odds Still Shortening
QUOTED INITIALLY at 200/1 to win the Labour leadership race, Jeremy Corbyn attracted five bets at those odds before William Hill began shortening their odds - and continued to do so in an effort to stem the tide of betting support.
But even when he became a red-hot odds-on favourite, he remained the pin-up boy of political punters and Hills have now cut him from 1/3 (stake £3 for potential profit of £1) to 2/7 (stake £7 for potential profit of £2) after another flurry of support, including one customer who on Saturday staked his first bet with Hills - £1500 on Corbyn.
'Whatever price we quote Mr Corbyn at the punters take it - if he wins, we face a six figure reminder never to under-estimate him in the future as a result of the consequent hefty payout.'
